Supplier Spotlight: Meet The Honey Project

If you’ve ever wondered how a jar of honey could stand for something more, The Honey Project is a compelling example. Founded in the UK, this brand isn’t just about honey – it’s about habitat, nature, and doing good.

Meet the founders

The Honey Project was founded by Laura Eyles and Ed Little. Their story begins, as they describe it, like a “modern love story” – the pair met via Hinge in early 2019 and by the summer had their thoughts turned to bees, hives and honey. Laura, who had previously been working on a branding project for a large UK honey company, became increasingly frustrated with how the industry operated, especially around transparency, provenance and ecological impact. Together Laura and Ed decided to build something different: honey that does good, supports nature, and is rooted in the UK.

Rewilding, one jar at a time

What really sets The Honey Project apart is its mission: for every jar sold, they commit to rewilding 100 wildflowers. That means each purchase isn’t just a sweet treat, it’s a kickstart for bees, insects and wild habitats. Did you know that 33% of the UK’s bee population has disappeared over the past decade, and 97% of wildflower meadows have been lost since the 1930s.

Truly British, truly local

In a marketplace where many honeys are imported and blended, The Honey Project leans into local. Their bees forage at Holt Hall Apiary on local flowers, meaning each jar is rooted in place and season. The flavour varies from jar to jar, as you might expect when you let nature lead.

How to enjoy it

  • Swap your usual breakfast honey for the “Unrivalled Runny”, drizzle over yoghurt, porridge or warm fruit. The floral lightness pairs beautifully.
  • Use the “Creamy Soft Set” as your go-to spread on toast, crumpets, or stirred into chai for richness.

Try it for yourself

We at Modern Milkman are proud to stock The Honey Project’s Unrivalled Runny Honeyand Creamy Soft Set Honey, so feel free to add one (or both) to your next order. Your breakfast tables, the bees, and the wildflowers will thank you.
