This week ‘pausing,’ just got a whole lot more wonderful, with the launch of donations at Modern Milkman.
Now when customers go to pause their order, they will have the option to choose to donate the value of their paused order (partially or in full), in delicious, fresh produce to our partner charity, Hubbub Foundation UK’s (Registered Charity No. 1158700) Community Fridge Network.
Hubbub, are a brilliant charity, that’s tackling food waste and food insecurity. We’ve been lucky enough to have worked with Hubbub for a number of years already, through our Virtual Pint initiative, where customers can donate the value of a pint of milk.
What’s a community fridge?
Hubbub currently supports community fridges in locations across the UK, each one stocked with surplus food from local businesses, donations from community members, and fresh produce that might otherwise go to waste. Last year alone, their network prevented thousands of tonnes of good food from ending up in landfill while providing meals for families who needed them most.
How It Works?
Here’s where it gets exciting. When you pause your Modern Milkman subscription, whether it’s for a week long holiday or a month long adventure, you’ll now have the option to donate the value of that paused order, to Hubbub’s Community Fridge Network. Regularly, we’ll total up the value of donations and deliver the equivalent in fresh, delicious products to a local community fridge.
It’s beautifully simple: your regular milk and grocery budget becomes a gift that keeps on giving to your local community. That £10 weekly order? It could help stock a community fridge with fresh essentials for several families. Your monthly £40 pause? That’s enough to support cooking workshops that teach new skills and bring people together.
