Oats are as healthy and versatile as an Olympic gymnast, and give you bucketloads of vitamins, fibre and minerals. So, what better way to start your day than with the breakfast of champions? Try our deliciously simple overnight oats recipe, starring our return and reuse oat drink.

What are overnight oats?

Have you ever heard the phrase ‘it does what it says on the tin’? Well, overnight oats are oats that are soaked overnight to eat the next day. Clever, huh? Soaking oats overnight avoids the need to cook them, which gives you a few extra precious minutes in bed without having to chomp and crunch your way through breakfast.

Are overnight oats good for you?

Yes, overnight oats can be a t-oat-ally nutritious and healthy option for breakfast! Treating your oats to a nighttime bath in things like milk or yoghurt releases and breaks down extra starch and nutrients, making for an even healthier breakfast.

Overnight Oats Recipe

Ingredients:

  • – 70g of rolled oats
  • – 240ml of Oato
  • – 1 tbsp of honey
  • – ¼ tbsp ground cinnamon
  • – 1 apple
  • – A pinch of salt
  • – 1 suitably sized jar (400-500ml)

Method:

If you’re making this as a single serving, you can mix all of the ingredients in one jar. If you’re making multiple portions, use a large bowl and portion into jars as desired.

  1. 1. Core and chop the apples into small cubes.
  1. 2. Add the oats, cinnamon and salt together and mix thoroughly.
  1. 3. Mix in the honey, cubed apple and oat drink until it’s all combined.
  1. 4. Cover the jars and leave them in the fridge overnight. 4-6 hours will be a-okay.

A scrumptious alternative version we recommend is to try substituting the oat drink and honey with 70g of natural yoghurt and 1180 ml of apple juice.
