Overnight Oats recipe

Oats are as healthy and versatile as an Olympic gymnast, and give you bucketloads of vitamins, fibre and minerals.

Start your day with the breakfast of champions by trying our deliciously simple overnight oats recipe, which stars our return-and-reuse oat drink

What are overnight oats?

Ever heard the phrase, it does what it says on the tin? Well, overnight oats are oats that are soaked overnight to eat the next day. Clever, huh?

Soaking oats overnight avoids the need to cook them, giving you a few extra precious minutes in bed without having to chomp and crunch your way through breakfast.

Are overnight oats good for you?

Treating your oats to a nighttime bath releases and breaks down extra starch and nutrients, making for an even healthier breakfast.

The ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make the culinary magic happen:

  • – 70g of rolled oats
  • – 240ml of oat drink
  • – 1 tbsp of honey
  • – ¼ tbsp ground cinnamon
  • – 1 apple
  • – A pinch of salt
  • – 1 suitably sized jar (400-500ml).

The recipe

If you’re making this as a single serving, you can just mix all of the ingredients in one jar. If you’re making multiple portions, use a large bowl and portion into jars as desired.

  1. 1. Core and chop the apples into small cubes
  1. 2. Add the oats, cinnamon and salt together and mix thoroughly
  1. 3. Mix in the honey, cubed apple and oat drink until it’s all combined
  1. 4. Cover the jars and leave in the fridge overnight. 4-6 hours will be a-okay.

Scrumptious alternative version: Try substituting the oat drink and honey with 70g of natural yogurt and 180ml of apple juice
