You could win £500 for your community group
We want as many community groups as possible to get involved and help clear up our beautiful town. And, as an added incentive, we’re offering £500 to the winners to invest back into their community. That could go towards your new kit or clubhouse, for example, or a charity or local cause of your choice – the world’s your lobster.
Competition details
Your group must be based within the Gateshead area and be involved in the local community. We’re talking about anything from local football teams and rugby clubs, to knitting groups, book clubs, scouts and girl guides – the more, the merrier. So sign your group up, share your unique Litterati code with as many of them as possible, and collect and log as much litter as you can through the app on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd October. The team who picks the most litter will be announced as the winners on 8th October – with a prize of 500 smackeroonies to be spent however you see fit!
How to sign up
You can sign up from 20th September to 30th September. Just fill out the form below, and we’ll share your unique litter picking code and competition starter pack via email in the next few days. What’s included in your starter pack:
- – A printable poster and a shareable pic to attract litter pickers in your group
- – A guide to litter picking
Get your team to enter your unique code into the Literati app, ready for the litter picking weekend. The more people who sign up with your code, the more likely you are to win. Only litter collected in the Gateshead area on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd October will count towards your total.

The group with the most litter collected and logged will win £500 for their chosen community group. On your marks. Get ready. Go!!!
